Tamanna was brought into this world on December 21, 1989, with Santosh and Rajni being her parents, who have an elder brother named Anand. She comes from a Sindhi Hindu family and finished her schooling at Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School in Mumbai. She chose her career in acting at a very early stage; at 13, she joined Prithvi Theatre and participated in stage performances for about a year. In some of her earliest films, she was credited as Tamanna; however, she changed her stage name later to Tamannaah for numerological reasons, and after a while, she came to be known by her full name, Tamannaah Bhatia.
Tamannaah's journey in films began in the Hindi film industry with the film Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005. That year she also debuted in Telugu cinema with Sree and in Tamil cinema with Kedi in 2006.
